How Can I

Support Families Facing The Cold This Winter?

Winter is a harsh reality for millions of families across Yemen, Gaza, and Pakistan. Many live in fragile shelters where the cold seeps through thin walls, children sleep without warm clothing, and parents struggle to afford heating or even a simple meal. For them, winter is not just uncomfortable — it is dangerous.

Through the Akram Aid Winter Appeal, you can help change that. Your donation to the Winter Appeal provides life-saving essentials such as warm blankets, winter clothing, heating fuel, and food, bringing comfort, safety, and hope to families enduring freezing nights.

Every contribution matters. Your support helps vulnerable families face winter with warmth, dignity, and the reassurance that they are not alone.

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Akram Aid to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Akram Aid we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Akram Aid to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Akram Aid will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Akram Aid receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

Why Your

Help Matters Right Now

Winter hits the poorest families the hardest. In places already worn down by hardship, conflict, and displacement, the cold adds another layer of fear and uncertainty.

Parents worry about their children sleeping without jackets. Elderly people shiver through long nights with no heating. Many families have lost their homes and now survive in tents or damaged shelters that offer little protection from the cold.

Your support through the Winter Appeal gives them a lifeline. It means they don’t face these freezing nights alone — they have warmth, dignity, and hope because of you.

Gaza

Winter Appeal

In Gaza, winter arrives while families are already living through devastation.
Regular power cuts leave homes without reliable heating, and many children sleep in rooms exposed to the cold.
Parents stay awake through the night, worrying how to keep their families warm when they have nothing left.

Your donation to the Winter Appeal brings heat, blankets, and comfort to families who have endured far too much.

Yemen

Winter Appeal

In Yemen, winter isn’t just cold — it’s dangerous.
More than 80% of the population now relies on aid, and when temperatures drop, survival becomes even harder.
Families already weakened by hunger face freezing nights in damaged homes or makeshift shelters that offer almost no protection.

For many, your support through the Winter Appeal is the only warmth they have.

Pakistan

Winter Appeal

Across Pakistan, winter hits hardest in flood-hit regions and mountain areas.
Millions still live in temporary shelters, and cold winds cut through tents and tin homes.
With one in four families living below the poverty line, even buying a blanket is out of reach for many.

Your support through the Winter Appeal helps families survive the harshest months of the year.

Poverty &

Winter – Understanding The Struggle

Cold weather deepens existing poverty. When families are already choosing between food and rent, buying winter clothing simply isn’t possible. Many rely on firewood or small heaters, but even those are out of reach for countless households.

Through our Winter Appeal, we use your donation to send:

Warm Cloting

Thick Blankets

Heating Fuel

Safe Heaters

Nutritious Food Packs

Emergency Winter Kits

All delivered directly to families in Yemen, Gaza, and Pakistan.

Remember: Every gift, no matter the size, brings warmth, comfort, and hope to people who would otherwise go without.

Your Donation

to Winter Appeal is their Hope

We’ve seen the difference your kindness makes.

A heater warms a room where children sleep.

A blanket helps a mother keep her baby safe through the night.

A food pack gives a family enough for a week.

These are small things to us — but life-changing to them.

Let’s Make

Winter Warmer for the Poor

Your donation to the Winter Appeal can save or protect lives across Yemen, Gaza, and Pakistan. No one should face winter alone, especially not the vulnerable, the elderly, or the children who rely on us.

As the Quran reminds us:

“And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, [saying], ‘We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.’” (Surah Al-Insan 76:8-9)

Your support reflects this spirit — bringing warmth, safety, and hope to families in need.

Frequently

Asked Questions

1. What is a Winter Appeal?

A Winter Appeal is a charity campaign that helps vulnerable families survive the cold months by providing essentials such as warm clothing, blankets, heating support, and food. It focuses on protecting those most at risk during freezing conditions.

2. What is included in a Winter Essentials Kit?

A Winter Essentials Kit usually contains thick blankets, warm clothing, hats, gloves, socks, heating fuel, and staple food items to help families stay warm and nourished through winter.

3. How is a Winter Appeal different from other charity appeals?

A Winter Appeal focuses specifically on seasonal survival. It tackles urgent winter needs caused by freezing temperatures, while general charity appeals support broader, year-round issues such as food, health, and education.

4. What do families need most during winter?

Families urgently need warm clothing, blankets, heating fuel, nutritious food, safe shelter, and basic medical supplies. These items help protect them from cold-related illness and hunger.

5. What is usually included in a Winter Shelter Kit?

Winter Shelter Kits often include sleeping mats, thick blankets, warm clothing, tarpaulins, heaters or fuel, and emergency food items to help families stay protected from the cold.

6. How does winter aid help families in war zones?

Winter aid provides life-saving support to families displaced by conflict. It delivers heating, warm clothing, blankets, and emergency food to people who have lost their homes or live in damaged shelters.

7. How does my donation provide long-term winter relief?

Your donation funds seasonal kits, emergency winter supplies, and improvements to shelters. These upgrades help families stay protected through multiple winters — not just one.

8. What type of shelter support is provided during winter?

Depending on the region, support may include insulated tents, emergency shelters, winterised rooms, tarpaulins, or upgraded community shelters designed to keep families warm and safe.

9. What’s the difference between a Winter Appeal and an Emergency Winter Appeal?

A Winter Appeal delivers planned seasonal support. An Emergency Winter Appeal responds to sudden crises — such as extreme cold waves, snowstorms, conflict escalation, or floods — where immediate winter aid is essential.
